The Ford Explorer comes with three different powertrain engines. You can choose from two EcoBoost® engines, which include the standard 300-horsepower 2.3L I-4 and available 400-horsepower 3.0L EcoBoost® V6.

The Explorer also has an available hybrid engine, which can generate 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque and get up to an EPA-estimated 27 city/28 highway. The Pilot comes with just a V6 engine across all its trim levels. This creates 280 horsepower and gets up to an EPA-estimated 20 city/27 highway MPG.
