EcoSport Engines and Performance

The EcoSport comes with a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. The optional upgrade is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 166 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque. Both engines mate with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available. The SES model has the 2.0-liter and all-wheel drive standard.

Both engines have smooth, reliable power delivery and a cushioned ride quality that keeps passengers comfortable. The EcoSport is highly maneuverable and offers a tight turning radius, so you can zip around city streets and tight parking lots. When suitably equipped, the EcoSport can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

With all-wheel drive, the EcoSport gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined city/highway. These are impressive numbers for an all-wheel-drive model in this class.

EcoSport Features

Along with performance and fuel efficiency, the EcoSport offers a variety of standard and available technology. The base model comes with a SYNC® infotainment system and a 4.2-inch display with a six-speaker stereo and a Wi-Fi hotspot. As for more entertainment features, upgrade to the available SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. This feature syncs with your phone for streaming music and accessing your phone's apps and features. Other available features include satellite radio, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, HD radio, and navigation.

All EcoSport models come with MyKey, a feature that lets you set limits for the sound volume and speed to keep young drivers from getting distracted. A rearview camera is also standard. Available safety features include rear parking sensors and fog lights. You could add available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, two features that warn you about vehicles and pedestrians in your blind spot when reversing or changing lanes on the highway. Another available feature is rain-sensing windshield wipers.
