Ford Escape MPG

Crossover SUVs are known to blend the performance of a smaller car with the capabilities of a larger vehicle. That means you usually get to enjoy efficient driving and agile handling while having the added space and strength of a true SUV.

One crossover that does a great job at combining all these aspects into one stylish ride is the Ford Escape. Just how many miles per gallon will the Escape get as you travel around Detroit, Sterling Heights, and Warren, MI? Below, our Crest Ford team takes a look to see exactly how efficient a ride you'll have in the Ford Escape.

Ford Escape Miles Per Gallon

The 2021 Ford Escape features two EcoBoost® engines you can choose from. Standard is the 1.5L EcoBoost® I-3 engine that produces 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. When powered by this engine, the Escape reaches an EPA-estimated 28 city/34 highway MPG.

The other available EcoBoost® engine is a 2.0L I-4 engine that creates 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with the added traction that is provided by the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Even with all that, it still helps the Ford Escape achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 city/31 highway MPG.

What Helps the 2021 Escape Perform so Efficiently?

Part of what helps these engines get the type of efficient gas mileage that they do is the various systems and technologies also featured within this vehicle. First off, these engines feature a system called Auto Start-Stop Technology.

This can detect whenever you are stopped for an extended period of time and automatically shut the engine off. That way, fuel isn't being used when you are at a red light or stopped in traffic. Then, when you are ready to start moving again, it will get the engine up and running once more.

The Escape also features various driving modes. Choosing one lets the vehicle quickly adjust various systems to give you whatever type of performance is associated to that specific mode. One of these modes is Eco Mode, which helps make sure you are getting the maximum amount of mileage out of each gallon of gas.

Hybrid Performance for Even Better Efficiency

Beyond its two gas EcoBoost® engines, the 2021 Ford Escape also has a few hybrid configurations you can get to enjoy even better efficiency along your commute. With its available 2.5L iVCT Atkinson Cycle I-4 hybrid engine, you'll enjoy up to an EPA-estimated 44 city/37 highway MPG in the Ford Escape

There is even a plug-in version of this hybrid powertrain that is also available. With it, you can drive purely off the electric power generated by its battery for exceptional efficiency and eco-friendly performance wherever you go!
